I only vaguely remember meeting my best friend for the first time. But I definitely remember when we became best friends.
It was one of those chance encounters where if she had taken a different turn or I had taken five more minutes getting ready, it probably wouldn’t have happened at all.
It was fate.
Fall 2012, I was cutting through OSU’s Oval. I could only assume I was walking toward class. She happen to be walking the opposite direction. We stopped to say hi to each other. We make some small talk.
I don’t remember exactly what we talked about. I just remember that it quickly evolved into one of those long conversations that you never want to end. The type that you never expect to take place but are more than happy to move all your plans for. Don’t tell my mom, but I’m pretty sure I skipped class that day because of this.
That moment in the Oval shaped who I am because it brought Debby into my life. If I didn’t have her influence in my life, I honestly don’t know where I would be today.
