I’ve been casually testing out different side hustle apps to see what actually pays. I still use a bunch of the apps I mentioned in this post from November. In June, I cashed out a few of them. While none of these are massive on their own, every bit adds up. It helps when you’re trying to pay off debt or save for something big like a wedding. Or in my case, both. Here’s exactly what I earned, where it came from, and a few thoughts on whether it was worth it.
Total Side Hustle Cash-Outs in June: $154.22
App-by-App Breakdown
DScout – $50.00
DScout is a platform where companies post ‘missions’ for users to complete. You get paid money and they get some user research insights. These missions are a little bit more involved, but the payouts are much higher. For this cash out, I completed 3 express missions worth $20, $25, and $5.
I love to check this app from time to time and see if I qualify for any express missions. It’s worth mentioning that if you qualify, most of them do have you move to a computer. So you might not be able to complete these missions on your mobile device.
Kale – $43.21
Kale is a platform where companies post social media challenges for users to accept. The challenges are prompts you use to create content for your social media accounts. They accept submissions via TikTok, Instagram, and Youtube accounts. If you decide to submit on multiple platforms, that means more money for you!
For this cash out, I submitted 3 Tik Tok posts for 3 different companies for a total of $43.21. That comes out to a little less than $15 per post.
They partnered up with a ton of companies that post challenges. I will say that I’m selective of the challenges I claim. I want to make sure that I actually love the product or use it in my life already. But as someone with a tiny Tik Tok platform, $15 a video is a pretty good start.

Ibotta – $32.01
Ibotta is an app that scans your grocery store receipts and gives you cash back. But they only offer cash back when you buy specific products. These offers change often, so sometimes it feels like I don’t have any offers to take advantage of. But this month, I was able to build up for a $32.01 cash out!
Here is my referral link if you want to join and start scanning your grocery receipts.
Upside – $12.49
Upside gets you cash back when you buy from select gas stations and restaurants. The list is on the app itself, because not every restaurant or gas station is a part of this system.
I buy gas at Costco, so my gas purchases don’t qualify. But eating out still adds up and it netted me $12 this month. This is my referral link if you want to join. We would both get an extra 10% cash back in restaurants with this link.
Karrot – $6.00
Karrot is an alternative to Facebook Marketplace or Offer Up. It’s being pushed hard in the Chicago land area. I’m not sure if this is also the case for other big cities around the US.
I sold a spice rack that I didn’t have room for anymore for $6. Not bad for something that was most likely going to collect dust in a corner somewhere.
Eureka – $5.34
Eureka is one of the many survey apps on the internet. It does also give you options to earn money through games or other offers. I like this app more than others because it also gives you credit for viewing ads about nearby places. Every month I’ve been able to save up at least $5. In June, it was $5.34. Not a lot, but for not doing a whole lot, it’s not bad.

AttaPoll – $5.17
Another app I keep around is AttaPoll. You earn money mainly through surveys. But they’ve expanded their options to include games or other offers as well. They have the lowest pay out rate at $2.50, but this month I managed to cash out $5.17.

Pending Earnings (Not Cashed Out Yet)
These are the apps where I’ve earned money but haven’t hit the cash-out threshold yet:
- Fetch: $25.15
- Benable: $19.13
- YouGov: $12.94
- Benjamin: $9.74
- Brandclub: $3.98
That’s $70.94 I’m hoping to cash out in July!
Final Thoughts
The easiest wins were from cash back apps like Ibotta and Upside because I use them on things I’m already buying. DScout was the highest paying but also required more focused time. Karrot was random but kind of fun. I have a bin of things that I was planning to give away anyway. It doesn’t hurt to start listing them on Karrot.
These apps won’t make you rich overnight, but $150+ for using apps I already had on my phone? I’ll take it. Especially when I’m putting that money toward paying off debt and planning a wedding.
Have you tried any of these? Got an app I should add to my rotation? Let me know!
